A single 2D image simply doesn’t hold enough information for accurate 3D geometry (10 อ่าน)

I keep seeing tools that promise you can easily Convert 2D Image to STL File for 3D Printing with just a few clicks. On paper, it sounds amazing—upload a flat image and instantly get a 3D-printable model. But I’m starting to question how realistic (or useful) that promise really is.The idea behind Convert 2D Image to STL File for 3D Printing sounds simple, but technically it’s not. A 2D image doesn’t contain depth information. So any tool that converts it into an STL file has to guess the third dimension. That alone raises some concerns.
Here’s why I’m skeptical:
Missing depth data: A single 2D image simply doesn’t hold enough information for accurate 3D geometry.
Surface quality issues: Many auto-generated STL files come with rough meshes, holes, or non-manifold edges.
Print-readiness problems: Just because you can generate an STL doesn’t mean it’s optimized or even printable.
False expectations for beginners: It can create the impression that 3D modeling requires no skill or refinement.
