The Dive into the Unknown (20 อ่าน)

Replacing the Hard Drive: The original hard drive was making these awful clicking noises, like a tiny old man trying to tap dance. I figured that was a goner. I had an old, smaller Solid State Drive (SSD) lying around from a failed project years ago. Pulled the old one out, slotted the SSD in. It clicked into place nice and easy. That was a small win, a tiny slice of good fortune right there.

RAM Upgrade: Next, the memory. It had barely any. I remembered I had taken out a stick from another old laptop that croaked permanently. Dug through a drawer full of cables and random parts. Found it! A matching stick. Snapped it into the empty slot. Felt pretty smart at that moment.

Software Nightmares: This is where things really started getting interesting. Installing the operating system was supposed to be straightforward. I downloaded a fresh version of Windows, put it on a USB stick. Booted up the laptop, tried to install. Error. Just a vague “something went wrong.” Tried again. Same thing. Hours passed. I drank way too much coffee.

I swear, there was one night, maybe a Wednesday, when I was absolutely ready to chuck the whole thing out the window. Nothing worked. It kept telling me it couldn’t find drivers, or that the installation was corrupt, or some other nonsense. I was looking up obscure forum posts from like, 2012. People were talking about BIOS settings I didn’t even know existed. My brain was a puddle. I just threw my hands up and walked away. Sometimes you just gotta take a break before you smash something.
