So this totally started as a random weekend thing I just wanted to print a small model for my desk, something sci-fi, nothing too crazy. Fast forward two months, and I’ve turned the entire guest room into a mini workshop with shelves full of painted models. I’m spending more time browsing STL files than Netflix now. Anyone else had a harmless project totally take over in the best way?

I’ve got a friend who used to joke about never finishing projects then one day I walked in and he’d built this whole display case with lighting just for his models. It’s kind of awesome watching someone light up over a hobby like that makes you wanna find your own thing that keeps pulling you back.

Oh man, I have been down that rabbit hole. I thought I would just try printing one spaceship for fun, but then I found these insanely detailed free 3d print files and suddenly I am learning to airbrush, doing weathering effects, even upgrading my printer settings weekly. It is addictive, but in a kind of meditative way. Feels like building something tangible in a digital world, you know?
