Real vs Fake Oud Oil: Don’t Get Tricked by Cheap Imitations (7 อ่าน)

I was checking a few oud samples for my fragrance ideas when an unexpected [late-night comparison of different oil batches] made me realize how confusing real vs fake oud oil can be for buyers. Real oud oil comes from naturally infected agarwood trees and has a deep, complex scent that evolves over time—starting woody and smoky, then becoming warm and slightly sweet. Fake oud oil, on the other hand, is usually synthetic or diluted, giving off a flat smell that fades quickly and lacks depth. Another key difference is texture and color—authentic oud is often thicker and darker, while fake versions look light or watery. The biggest sign is how the fragrance behaves on skin: real oud changes in layers, while fake oil smells the same from start to finish. Since genuine oud is rare and costly, very cheap “pure oud” is often not authentic, so knowing this difference helps you choose quality over hype.
